Artifact 1

Brief Description of Evidence:
This artifact is a folder project completed by students. Throughout our unit on the human body systems, students covered five of the main systems in the body: the circulatory system, the respiratory system, the nervous system, the digestive system, and the skeletal system. Students had a variety of assignments throughout the unit, many of which were a part of this learning packet. Some of the pages found within this packet include tables for students to fill in information, worksheets on each of the body system, and a list of vocabulary words for students to define.

Analysis of What I Learned:
After working through this folder packet with my students I learned how important it is to provide
students with a variety of things
to work on. Not only that, but it is especially important to provide students adequate time to complete their work and to pre-determine deadlines before handing out such a demanding assignment. I underestimated the amount of time certain students would need to complete certain portions of their folder and although a majority of the students were able to complete the assignments on time, I caused more of a hassle for myself by having to constantly remind students of due dates.

How This Artifact Demonstrates my Competence on the INTASC Principle:
This artifact demonstrates my content knowledge in that I was able to examine the content we were studying, extract the pertinent information, and create a folder filled with both information and work for students to use and complete. I used materials in the folder packets that allowed students to research, take notes, read and locate information, and color diagrams to create learning experiences that made the subject matter meaningful to students.
