INTASC #10 The student teacher fosters relationships
with school colleagues, parents, and
agencies in the larger community to support
students’ learning and well-being.
Brief Description of Evidence: This artifact
is a collection of documents and pictures
which illustrate my involvement with the
school’s Spell Bowl team. The first is a
picture of the team heading to the state
tournament. The other two are documents I
received providing instructions for
proctoring at both the invitational and the
state tournament. Basically I travelled with
the team and sat at a desk for another
school at the contest and graded that
school’s papers. Obviously it would not have
been fair to grade for my own school. Analysis of What I
Learned: I had a great
time working with the Spell Bowl team – the
members, the coach, and the other
individuals I met along the way. I wish I
had known about the team earlier and could
have helped out at practices, but I’m
thankful I was able to even assist in this
facet. Helping out with extracurricular
activities such as Spell Bowl or Math Bowl
is always something I knew I would try to do
when I had my own job someday, and being
able to have this experience made me even
more such of that. It was great being able
to work with students from various other
classrooms in different grades and I know
both they and the coach were glad to have me
around. How This Artifact
Demonstrates my Competence on the INTASC
Principle: This artifact
shows how my willingness to participate in
school events. I was able to take an
activity I enjoyed and was strong in, and
find an extracurricular activity to help out
with. Not only did I perform my duties at
the two events I was required to be at but I
also helped out the Spell Bowl coach by
chaperoning the students at the events and
on the bus. I was also able to interact with
parents who rode the bus with us and
developed relationships with students
outside of my own classroom. This artifact
demonstrates how I foster relationships with
school colleagues, parents, and agencies in
the larger community to support students’
learning and well-being.
