UNIT DESCRIPTION

This unit is designed to educate fifth grade students on five of the body systems found in the human body. The five systems we will be covering are: the circulatory system, the respiratory system, the nervous system, the digestive system, and the skeletal system. Not only will students be learning the functions of each of these systems, they will also be learning the functions of many of the major organs/bones in each system as well.

Each student will be assigned a particular portion (one or more organs/bones) of a body system and will be responsible for becoming an expert about their body part. After doing research students will be creating individual PowerPoint slides and collaborating with slides from students researching the other body parts found in their body system to present an entire PowerPoint presentation to the class about their body system. Students will be assessed both on the accuracy of their content as well as theoverall design and layout of their individual slides.
